On the Pulse of Popular Celebrity
A win is seen as a measure of the celebrity's popularity nationwide, as the Golden Butterfly Awards is one of the few Turkish award ceremonies to hold the distinction of being awarded completely on public vote.
Some of Tarkan Deluxe's recent recommendations on popular Turkish culture won awards during the evening, which was attended by American television and film actress Jessica Alba as honorary guest.
As pop artist Yalin's 2014 video for a Cornetto summer commercial won best music video, female pop singer İrem Derici and male singer Oğuzhan Koç won for best new female and male acts respectively.
Meanwhile, pop princess Gülşen has been raking in the music accolades across the awards board, winning two Golden Butterflies for best female pop act and best song.
The sultry songstress' star has been in the ascendency since teaming up professionally and personally with Tarkan's long-term producer Ozan Çolakoğlu, with rumours going around the gossip press that she is the reason for the current professional rift between the hit-making men.
The award ceremony also saw the host quartet of TV daytime show "Soylemezsem Olmaz" (Got To Tell) get up on stage to receive the best TV programme gong in their category for its first season. During it's première run, the celebrity news show has been viewed as amongst the least worst of a bad bunch.
And Antalyian actress Serenay Sarikaya - recently making the celebrity headlines for her rendition of Tarkan's "İnci Tanem" (Ölürüm Sana, 1997) - won best actress in a TV series for Turkish melodrama "Medcezir" (The Tide), a remake of the American series "The O.C.".
