Tickets Sell Out Amid Nation Sorrow

By Steffan Matrak posted from Moscow, Russia

Tarkan's tickets are finally selling out, as Turkey is rocked by bombs again.

Tarkan's six performances at Harbiye’s Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Stage in September are still on sale, but finally on the verge of being sold out we are led to understand.

Named after a pioneer surgeon and Ottoman mayor, the almost 70 year old ampitheatre will have hosted Turkish pop's most iconic singer for a decade when Tarkan takes to its stage this September.

It's hoped to be a memorable bowing out, if plans to knock down the open air theatre and build a new seven thousand capacity arena go ahead.

But with Turkey rocked by increasing terror attacks, and the country reeling from reports of a suicide bomber targeting a Kurdish wedding party in Gaziantep just yesterday, it's uncertain whether the September shows will be hit with cancellations.

This has been a deadly blow to a country already in mourning and trying to recover from a failed coup in July where over 240 people lost their lives.

At the time, Tarkan had refused to offer any condolences on his social accounts with those who died, breaking his silence only to post dates for the Harbiye events.

His fans wonder if he will post a message now, as the pop icon has shared messages over similar attacks in the past.
